'American Idol': Adam Lambert's 'Aftermath,' J.Lo is going to teach him how to Dougie

For the first "American Idol" results show of the finalists, Season 8 runner-up Adam Lambert was on hand to perform. He did a stripped down version of "Aftermath," a song off his "For Your Entertainment" debut album.
Part of the proceeds from the sales of this new version will go to benefit The Trevor Project, an organization that provides support to LGBT youth, so that's awesome. We also think this new version of the song is pretty awesome too. The new version will be available to download once the show is over, for now here is the radio version from Ryan Seacrest's website.
In addition to that great performance, afterward Ryan Seacrest says he does The Dougie to the fast, dance club version, then when Glambert doesn't know what The Dougie is, J.Lo offers to teach it to him. Now that's something we want to see.
WE'll post video of the "Idol" performance as soon as we have it.

Video: Adam Lambert Performs Stunning Acoustic Version Of “Aftermath” On American Idol Results Show
March 10, 2011 By Story Gilmore 3 Comments
Adam Lambert can do it all.

The American Idol season 8 breakout star can rock a tune like no one’s business then coo sweetly on a ballad. He showed off his softer side with an acoustic performance of his song Aftermath on tonight’s (March 10) American Idol season 10 results show.

Sitting on stage with a guitar player–and looking stunning we might add–Adam sang his heart out, hitting notes other Idols could only dream to hit so effortlessly.

A dance version of Aftermath, which in its original form appears on Adam’s debut album, For Your Entertainment, is available to download on Adam’s official website. Proceeds from the single’s sales will benefit The Trevor Project.

We're back, with the guy Ryan Seacrest says "truly set the bar for style and spectacle on this stage."

Adam Lambert does his acoustic version of Aftermath, which starts with a guitar playing a single-chord eighth-note pattern. Also backing him are an acoustic bassist and a percussionist. Spectacle? No, but it's a lovely, mellow performance that highlights the song's message: "Just remember you are not alone."

The audience gives him a standing ovation.

"The message is the most important thing about that song," Adam tells. "I wanted to strip it down tonight to give that the focus." He and Ryan also talk about what Adam calls the "dance club version" of the song, sales of which will benefit The Trevor Project.

More results coming up after the break.

Former "Idol" runner-up Adam Lambert also took the stage tonight, showing a softer side with a stunning acoustic version of his most recent single, "Aftermath." Sitting atop a stool with his bandmates surrounding him, Lambert -- who host Ryan Seacrest touted as "truly setting the bar for style and spectacle on this stage" -- appeared cool, calm and collected. Watch below.

Kirstin At ‘Idol:’ Aww…Adam Lambert Freaked Out When He Met Steven Tyler!

One of the perks of getting to see the live tapings of American Idol is witnessing what happens during the commercial breaks. However, tonight was even more special than usual because one of my favorite Idol alums, the one-and-only Adam Lambert, was in the house — and the energy was electrifying.

You all watched Adam, 29, sing an acoustic version of his song, “Aftermath,” to benefit The Trevor Project, but what you DIDN’T see was his interaction with the three judges afterward. At first, Adam and Ryan Seacrest stood center stage chatting for a bit (with their mics off, unfortunately!). Randy Jackson couldn’t get up on stage fast enough to congratulate his former contestant with a big hug, while Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez stayed back at the judges’ table.

After Randy left, Adam took off his microphone, sipped on Smart Water and went over to chat with the Idolists. It was super sweet because he took time to hug each and every contestant — even James Durbin, who told HollywoodLife.com last week he is NOTHING like Adam (despite comparisons). After meeting Adam in person, I think James had a change of heart though, because the two of them continued to talk for awhile, even snapping photos together. It was almost like Adam was passing the baton to James — I hope James realizes just how lucky he is!

Adam was super sweet to chat with all the contestants, but I could tell he was dying to say hello to J. Lo and meet Steven. He rushed over to the judges table and gave Jennifer a huge hug. After exchanging pleasantries with her, Adam turned to Steven and almost lost it.

I could read his lips. ”Wow,” he said. “It’s an honor to meet you!”

Steven, 62, didn’t seem too ruffled, but clearly enjoyed meeting Adam as well. I couldn’t see exactly what he said to him, but he did point out Adam’s necklace (Glamberts, do you know what he had on tonight?) and nod enthusiastically, as if he loved it. I half expected Adam to take off his necklace and give it to Steven on the spot!

Sadly, the commercial break was only so long and Adam had to say his goodbyes quickly before the show went back on-air. Glamberts in the crowd were screaming his name and Adam — who’s always so good to his fans — waved and smiled appreciatively before booking it out of the studio just in time for the cameras to start rolling once again.

All of this happened in less than three minutes, but I loved witnessing that magic in person. The contestants met their idol, and THAT idol met HIS idol. How cool is that?  What did you guys think of Adam’s tame performance tonight? Sound off below!

ADAM LAMBERT SAYS NEW ALBUM IS LESS “CAMPY,” MORE “SERIOUS”

Fresh off his acoustic performance of  “Aftermath” on American Idol, Adam Lambert briefly talked about the follow up to his hit album For Your Entertainment.

“The next album is in the works right now, I’ve been writing and recording and I think it will be out sometime in the fall,” said Lambert. “I’ve no idea what it’s going to sound like yet.  I don’t think it’s going to be as campy as the last album.  I think it’s going to have more of a serious note.”

A re-mix version of “Aftermath” is available on Adam Lambert’s official website, and proceeds will go to benefit The Trevor Project, a national organization aimed at crisis and suicide prevention among lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth.  Click on the media bar and listen to Lambert talk about recording the re-mix version of “Aftermath.”

Lambert’s first ever live DVD/CD (Glam Nation Live) comes out March 22nd, and the singer says the collection “captures the spirit” of his six month Glam Nation Tour, which had him traveling around the world.  “I think there is a universal power of music,” said the former Idol finalist.  “I learned a lot about that while being on the road.  I would go to countries where people weren’t speaking English as their first language, yet they knew the lyrics to almost every song.  It’s incredible how it can pull people together and it can move you, no matter what language you speak, no matter what your background is, no matter what your age is, or your preference, or religion.  It can move you.”

Click on the media bar to hear Lambert talk about being a role model.

* Adam’s joyous, unplugged “Aftermath” was something of an oasis in the midst of the compulsory results-night activities. Looking particularly fresh-scrubbed in a simple black jacket, the season 8 runner-up took away so much of the overbearing production of the original “Aftermath” (from Adam’s For Your Entertainment set) and put the emphasis back on the song’s lovely melody and important lyrical message of self-acceptance and self-empowerment. Proceeds from Adam’s new dancefloor-driven “Aftermath” remix (available for download at his official site) will benefit The Trevor Project (which seeks to end suicides among LGBTQ youth). You know you’ve got to check it out, if for no other reason than to hear the “Aftermath” rendition that makes Seacrest do “The Dougie.” (Combined with Ryan’s rendition of “The Paul McDonald” on Wednesday, our guy is turning out to be quite the hoofer! How about a DWTS stint during Idol‘s off-season?)

We've heard the buzz that James Durbin is this season's Adam Lambert, we've seen Glambert fans attack the comparison, and we've read what Adam and James have had to say about each other in the press, but what really happened when they came face-to-face on the stage of American Idol at Thursday night's elimination show?

From our seat behind the judges table we saw the official meet-and-greet that had Lambert fans scooping their jaws up off the ground:

All eyes were glued to Lambert as he made time to hug every contestant and had an especially long and chummy interaction with James. It seemed the two hit it off. There were no dirty looks or cold shoulders. In fact, pictures were taken, smiles exchanged and hugs shared. Adam's fans seemed surprised, and their insta-bond makes us think Adam may be over his Pia Toscana fandom (he gushed over her via Twitter after Wednesday's performance) and is now on the James Express.

As sweet as it was to see James and Adam play nice, our favorite Adam moment was watching the fan fave be completely starstruck meeting Steven Tyler

The first words out of Lambert's mouth (accompanied with bulging eyes and legitimate look of awe), "Wow, it's an honor to meet you."

Then it was on to air kisses with Jennifer and a bro-down with Randy Jackson, who we spied popping multiple Altoids breath mints.
